National Board of Review Predictions

Here we go. Awards season is upon us again, and in the evening of December 4, the National Board of Review will announce their Best Picture, top ten films, and acting awards. The NBR has traditionally been a good precursor for the Oscars. Their Best Picture winner usually is one of the top five nominated films, and last year, they picked “No Country For Old Men,” the eventual winner. Other past winners include “Moulin Rouge,” “Good Night and Good Luck,” “The Hours,” and “Mystic River.” They tend to shy away from big blockbuster films, but they like celebrity Hollywood actors. Here are our predictions:

Best Picture: Slumdog Millionaire

Top Ten Films:

Slumdog Millionaire
The Reader
Gran Torino
Milk
The Wrestler
Frost/Nixon
Doubt
Wall-E
Revolutionary Road
The Changeling

Best Actor: Frank Langella, Frost/Nixon

Best Actress: Melissa Leo, Frozen River

Best Supporting Actor: Josh Brolin, Milk

Best Supporting Actress: Viola Davis, Doubt

Best Director: Ron Howard, Frost/Nixon
